The M48 Patton and on are superior tanks with post-WW2 guns, ammo and systems. The whole of the Patton series are post war tanks, the T32 is a very late war failed project to make a tank capable of going toe-to-toe with Germany heavy armor. The Patton series of tanks are better than the T32 (that point can be argued about the first two).

Why is the Patton in a higher battle rating than the American heavy tank at tier 5 ? Alright it's pretty clear to me now that you are new to this game.

(casemate style tank destroyers that have glaringly obvious weak points but overall good gun and armor minus the weak points) tree is the T32, (which nobody uses because it is disgustingly over tiered) the T29, (premium) and the T95 and T28. The only examples that combine armor with firepower in the U.S. tree it all come down to personal preference, a good flanker, lightly armored but good gun most of the time, or mediocre armor and a very good gun.
